Who We Help

Adults who are ready for a more careful approach

This practice is designed for a specific kind of patient—not everyone, and that’s intentional. If what follows sounds familiar, this may be a good fit.

Good fit

This practice may be a good fit if you:

  • Want a thorough evaluation before starting or changing medication
  • Have tried treatment before but still don’t feel like yourself
  • Prefer a provider who explains the “why” behind recommendations
  • Are concerned about side effects, weight changes, or long-term health
  • Value a collaborative, unhurried approach
  • Want care paced to support understanding—not just symptom coverage
Common Starting Points

People often come to this practice when…

Prior treatment didn’t lead to the results they hoped for

They’ve been on medication before—or are currently—but still don’t feel like themselves. They want someone to take a careful look at whether the current approach is actually the right one.

They want a second opinion before making a change

A previous provider recommended a significant medication change or new diagnosis, and they want an independent, thorough evaluation before moving forward.

Side effects have become part of the problem

Weight changes, fatigue, low energy, or other physical effects from psychiatric medication haven’t been adequately addressed. They want a provider who takes those concerns seriously.

They’ve never felt like their diagnosis was quite right

They’ve carried a diagnosis for years but have always had questions about it. They want a fresh, careful reassessment—not just a continuation of what’s already in the chart.

Clinical Focus

What this practice focuses on

The MindCounsel has an emphasis on mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, and the intersection of psychiatric care with metabolic and overall physical health. The approach is evaluation-first: understanding the full picture before making or changing recommendations.

This is not a high-volume practice. Appointments are longer, evaluations are more thorough, and the goal is always to make decisions you fully understand and agree with.

Honest Clarity

Who may not be the right fit

Being transparent about this saves everyone time.

This practice may not be the right fit if you need same-day or urgent crisis care—telehealth has real limitations in acute situations, and a higher level of care would be more appropriate.

It may also not be the right fit if you are looking for a provider who will continue or adjust a current prescription without a thorough evaluation first. That’s not how this practice works.

If you’re unsure, the New Patients page explains what the first visit looks like and what to expect.
