Peer Psychiatric Consultation for Nurse Practitioners

Led by Dr. Reginald Casilang, a dual board-certified psychiatric (PMHNP-BC) and family (FNP-BC) nurse practitioner, The MindCounsel offers NP colleagues a knowledgeable peer for the cases that sit at the edge of your comfort.

NP-to-NP, with shared language

Family and adult NPs manage a large volume of mental health care. When a case becomes complex — a stimulant decision, a mood picture that may be bipolar rather than unipolar, a patient who has failed several agents — it helps to talk it through with a psychiatric NP who understands both the clinical question and the realities of NP practice.

Referral and curbside options

You can refer a patient for full psychiatric evaluation, or reach out for a curbside discussion on a case you intend to keep. For more formal situations, we offer scheduled psychiatric consultation services.

PMHNP student supervision

Dr. Casilang serves as a clinical preceptor and supervisor for PMHNP students and is glad to discuss precepting, supervision, and the transition into psychiatric practice with NP colleagues building that part of their scope.

What you get back

For referred patients, you receive a clear formulation and medication plan with explicit reasoning — useful both for the patient and as a teaching reference for your own future cases.

Shared-care philosophy

The aim is to raise the floor on psychiatric care across our shared communities. We are happy to take the complex piece and hand back a plan, or simply to be a sounding board so you can manage confidently.
