Psychiatric Collaboration That Respects Your Formulation
When your assessment points toward a medication question — or raises one your testing cannot fully answer — you want a psychiatric provider who reads the data carefully and reasons transparently.
Working with psychological assessment
Psychological and neuropsychological testing often surfaces the questions psychiatry is best positioned to act on: is this attention problem ADHD, anxiety, or a mood disorder driving the picture? The MindCounsel reads testing closely and integrates it into the psychiatric formulation rather than starting from scratch. Where your data is strong, we build on it; where it is ambiguous, we say so.
Diagnostic clarification and second opinions
A meaningful share of our referrals come from psychologists who want an independent psychiatric read on a complex case — particularly around the ADHD–bipolar–borderline overlap, suspected autism in adults, or treatment that has not responded as expected. Our psychiatric second opinion is built for exactly this.
How a referral works
Clients can book directly, or you can reach out first. With written consent we welcome your reports and return a concise formulation and plan. Telehealth visits across California and Hawaiʻi are typically scheduled within one to two weeks.
Communication standards
You receive a readable summary after the evaluation and at significant plan changes, with the diagnostic reasoning made explicit — not just a medication list. We are available by secure message for coordination.
Shared-care philosophy
We treat your assessment as a primary source, not a formality. The aim is a coherent, integrated picture the client can understand and act on — with medication decisions explained in terms of response, safety, tolerability, and the alternatives considered.
Frequently asked questions
Will you use my testing results?
Yes. We read psychological and neuropsychological testing closely and integrate it into the psychiatric formulation rather than duplicating it.
Can you provide an independent second opinion?
Yes. Independent diagnostic clarification and psychiatric second opinions are a core part of the practice, including for complex differential questions.
How quickly can a client be seen?
Most adults are seen within one to two weeks by secure video in California or Hawaiʻi.
How do you handle medication decisions?
Collaboratively and transparently — with the rationale, expected benefit, monitoring plan, and alternatives explained to the client and, with consent, summarized for you.
