Adult ADHD Evaluation in Orange County

A careful, unhurried adult ADHD evaluation by secure video — for Orange County adults who suspect ADHD, were told they had it without a real assessment, or were told they did not when the symptoms never went away.

More than a checklist

A real ADHD evaluation is not a five-minute questionnaire. It is a structured developmental and symptom history, a look at how attention has functioned across your whole life, and a careful differential — because anxiety, depression, trauma, and bipolar disorder can all imitate or accompany ADHD. A checklist is not a diagnosis.

Adults who were missed

Many capable adults — especially women and high-achieving professionals — were never identified as children because they compensated. The exhaustion of holding it together is often what finally brings them in. We take that history seriously.

What happens during the evaluation

We review your history and current functioning, use validated rating scales as one input among several, screen for conditions that mimic or co-occur with ADHD, and arrive at an honest conclusion — whether or not that conclusion is ADHD. If it is, we build a treatment plan together.

Treatment, if it is indicated

Treatment may include medication, non-medication strategies, or both. If a stimulant is appropriate, we review safe use, check the prescription monitoring database, screen cardiovascular risk, and document the reasoning. The plan is collaborative and explained in plain terms.

Insurance and access

Orange County adults are seen by secure video. California visits are booked through Headway with automatic benefits verification; Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Anthem Blue Cross, and Blue Shield are commonly accepted, and self-pay is available.

Frequently asked questions

How long does an ADHD evaluation take?

Expect a thorough initial evaluation rather than a quick screen, sometimes across more than one visit, so the diagnosis is accurate.

Can adults be diagnosed if they were never assessed as kids?

Yes. ADHD often goes unrecognized into adulthood, particularly in women and high-functioning professionals. A developmental history is part of the evaluation.

Will I be prescribed a stimulant?

Only if it is clinically appropriate and after a careful evaluation that includes monitoring-database review and cardiovascular screening. Non-stimulant and non-medication options are also discussed.

Is it really done by video?

Yes. The evaluation is conducted by secure video across California, with optional in-person visits in Corona.
